Canada’s Creative Export Strategy is led by the Department of Canadian Heritage in collaboration with Global Affairs Canada. The goal of the Strategy is to support creative industries in Canada to maximize their export potential and stand out in international markets. Creative Fire worked with Canadian Heritage to lead an engagement session with Indigenous-owned and Indigenous-led businesses and organizations in the creative industries. Through a facilitated workshop, we gathered feedback to inform the renewal of the Strategy – specifically, barriers and opportunities to export, as well as recommendations for how support could be tailored for Indigenous creative businesses and organizations. Our work facilitating the session, as well as our final insights report, was part of a targeted effort to ensure underrepresented groups have increased access to funding and support available through the Creative Export Strategy.
