Tamara Bernard (Shining Eagle Woman) is a mixed race Anishinaabekwe whose family comes from 1850 Robinson Superior Treaty, specifically Gull Bay First Nation – Lake Nipigon. She was born and raised in northwestern Ontario and is connected to many Indigenous organizations and nations across Canada through her work in Indigenous research, Indigenous mental health and wellness, Indigenous gender-based violence, social economic well-being and education.
Tamara has expertise in Two-Eyed Seeing by integrating Indigenous worldviews and Western worldviews by weaving them together harmoniously to encourage and ignite pathways of reciprocity, respect, relationality and cultural restor(y)ation.
Tamara enjoys attending ceremonies, being on the land, engaging with the arts and activism. She is a proud mother, activist, harvester, artist, and storyteller.
