Jonathan Palmer is a seasoned energy transition leader and electrical engineer with a passion for building sustainable, resilient communities. As President of Extropic Energy Inc. and a founding executive of Aurora Renewables LP, Jonathan helps communities across Canada unlock the economic, social, and environmental value of local energy solutions.
With over 15 years of experience in electric utility planning and distributed energy resources, Jonathan has led transformative projects involving solar, battery energy storage, EV infrastructure, and microgrids. He is a trusted advisor to municipalities, First Nations, and utilities, having supported initiatives with BC Hydro, FortisBC, SaskPower, and the City of Penticton, among many others. His expertise spans system design, feasibility analysis, asset management, and turnkey projects—often delivered using digital twin and 3D reality capture technologies.
Through Aurora Renewables, Jonathan has championed Indigenous ownership in the energy sector, delivering renewable energy systems that are designed for long-term community benefit. His collaborative approach, deep technical knowledge, and commitment to climate equity make him a key contributor to Canada’s clean energy future.
Jonathan holds a BASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from the University of Saskatchewan.
