Eric McGoey
Senior Advisor, Clean Energy Transition
Eric McGoey has over 20 years of experience spanning government, energy, and mining, with expertise in Indigenous and public engagement as well as stakeholder and government relations.
Since 2019, Eric has become one of the nuclear sector’s leading practitioners of Indigenous engagement, negotiating relationship agreements with multiple Indigenous communities for a commercial demonstration project at Chalk River Laboratories as Director of Engagement and Communications for Global First Power. At the same time, as Director, New Nuclear at Ontario Power Generation, he developed OPG’s Indigenous engagement strategy for New Nuclear, and led intergovernmental and inter-utility coordination between the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and New Brunswick in support of the Memorandum of Understanding for the development and deployment of Small Modular Reactors, before founding McGoey Consulting Inc. in late 2023.
Prior to joining OPG, McGoey worked in the mining sector as Director, Government and Public Relations for Cliffs Natural Resources, after ten years at the Ontario Legislature, including serving for five years as the Chief of Staff to the Minister of Northern Development and Mines and the Minister of Natural Resources. As a volunteer, Eric serves as the Vice Chair of the Clean Air Partnership, which helps municipalities meet their climate goals..
