We worked with the City to create a custom collection calendar for every household. The print calendar featured specific collection schedules for blue, black and green cart collection; info-graphics and icons to help residents use their carts correctly; and, an overview of the City’s other waste management programs.


In the spirit of going “green”, our digital team took the new print calendar online – and to a whole new level – by introducing a microsite and web tool for residents to search their collection schedules by their home address. It also allowed residents to subscribe for emails or direct messages through Twitter reminding them to put out their carts on collection days.


Good news travels fast but it sometimes needs a boost. To launch the new calendars, our media planners designed and executed an advertising strategy drawing on radio, print, web and social media advertising. We also coordinated a complimentary publicity tour for City representatives to introduce the new calendars on local news programs and talk shows.

Community engagement

There is no better way to roll out a public awareness campaign than with a trailer – or in this case – a classroom on wheels. The City wanted a fun and interactive educational display to promote collection cart usage, recycling and waste diversion at community events and gatherings. We customized a run-of-the-mill utility trailer with iPads, interactive games and activity stations to engage audiences of all ages.
